It is located on the courtyard of the rock in the middle of Al-Aqsa Mosque, specifically to the east of the northwestern corner, in front of a northern retreat that has been used as an office for the Al-Aqsa Guard, and it is about ten meters away from it. It dates back to the tenth century AH / sixteenth century AD, meaning that its construction was Ottoman.

There was a difference of opinion about the reason for naming it, and it was said that it may have been called that, based on the hadiths that were mentioned about the virtue of the Rock of Jerusalem, that it is the land of gathering and sawing, and that the souls of the servants are gathered on it, and it was said that it may have been named because of its relative proximity to the well-known cave. In the name of the Cave of Spirits, to which he descends by steps from inside the nearby Dome of Al-Khalili.

The dome has open sides, consisting of eight marble columns on which eight pointed arches rest, and above it a wide dome, and at the bases of its columns there is a single stone balustrade that surrounds it, and ends in the form of a mihrab in the direction of the qiblah.
