Kedem Jerusalem
"Kedem Jerusalem" is the name of a project that is planned to be built on lands confiscated by the occupation government after the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967 under various pretexts, including that they are government lands, Jewish heritage or the right of benefit.
The" Elad " Settlement Association is responsible for the Judaization of Jerusalem, specifically in the Silwan neighborhood and the Old City, and it controls the Umayyad palaces and areas south of Al-Aqsa.
Elad-whose name is short for"city of David" in Hebrew - enjoys the support of the occupation municipality in Jerusalem and the occupation government, and the Ministry of Justice has pressed to re-examine the project and move it in government circles.
The word" Kedem Jerusalem " is Hebrew and Means old Jerusalem, and the intention of the occupation authorities of this project is to falsify the image of the Old Jerusalem, which is currently known, which surrounds the Al-Aqsa mosque (inside the historical wall) and includes markets, churches, mosques and schools, some of which date back hundreds of years.
Several layers
That the building will be erected in several stages with a total area of 5,500 square meters on several layers underground and above.
The project extends between the two Wadi Hilweh areas near the Mughrabi Gate, one of the gates of Al-Aqsa, down to Ain Silwan / Al-Bustan neighborhood, and will include Byzantine and Roman antiquities and collectibles found by Israeli archeologists and treated to allow the projection of the Israeli narrative on them, as they claimed to be parts of the "first and second structures".
According to the plan, the project will include an upper layer overseeing the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Silwan area, while at the bottom all the tunnels will be connected to each other to connect the Wadi Hilweh area towards the Umayyad palaces and the Buraq Wall.
"Kedem" will not only be an attempt to falsify history, but also has a religious character, it includes a biblical center that will be associated with the Umayyad palaces to be one of the facilities of the alleged temple, that the project will also include a Jewish synagogue at the expense of areas of Wadi Hilweh, ein Silwan, the center of the town (Silwan) and on the one hand the Bustan neighborhood and collect them in populated Jerusalem neighborhoods.
The project is located in an area that includes a very sensitive historical and archaeological architectural fabric, adding that one of the risks of the project lies in the fact that the area and its Islamic Waqf.
The project also aims to obliterate the Islamic monuments located in that area to calculate the project, which will also include exhibition halls, an airstrip and a security site, in addition to a cable car landing, the route of which will be from the Mount of Olives to "kidem Jerusalem".
During June 2015, the so-called Israeli "Supreme Planning Council" stopped the project and refused to approve it, requesting amendments to it according to specific criteria, but weeks ago decided to re-examine this project after the intervention of the Ministry of justice in the Israeli government.
The "kidem Jerusalem" project is an integrated mini-government, which includes security men surrounding it from all sides, which will turn the area into a military barracks, 55 thousand Jerusalemite citizens living in Silwan will be a victim of it, and another 35 thousand residing in the Revolutionary neighborhood will find themselves forced to pass through the bottleneck at the entrance to Wadi Hilweh.
He points out that through the Kedem project, the occupation will provide a pure Talmudic biblical narrative about the history of the region, and will provide very large spaces for lecture halls for tourists that confirm the Israeli narrative in exchange for the complete absence of the Palestinian narrative, in addition to connecting the tunnel network with some of them, thus completing the biblical narrative about the history of the city.
