Dome of the Prophet
It is located above the nave of the rock to the northwest of the Dome of the Rock, between it and the Dome of Mi'raj. It is believed that it was built in the place where the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, prayed as an imam with the prophets and angels on the Night of the Night Journey.
The construction of this dome dates back to the Ottoman era, when it was built in two stages, one of which was during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in 945 AH / 1538 AD, when the mihrab, which is now inside it, was erected at a height of 70 cm. As for the second stage, it was during the reign of Sultan Abdul Majeed II in 1261 AH / 1845 AD, when the dome was established over the mihrab.
The dome is based on eight marble columns, topped with eight pointed arches, and it has open sides. There are red tiles on the floor of the dome surrounded by a mihrab, and it is likely that it dates back to the Umayyad era.
