Jaffa gate is situated in the western wall of the city close to the northwestern corner of the Citadel. This gate was known as Bab Mihrab Daoud (Gate of David niche) during the early Islamic period, it was called David niche gate because it adjoins the Mamluk Castle (1329 AD) that has a mosque and within it a niche red by mistake to David, peace be upon him.

Hebron-Gate

It was known by David Gate during the crusaders period.

it is well-known in Arabic by Hebron Gate (Bab al-Khalil). and Jaffa Gate in English and Hebrew.

Bal al-Khalil is an entrance with a pointed stone arch which contains an inscription with the Sultan's name, titles and the date of construction. The entrance covered by two huge copper fortified wooden shutters.

The entrance leads to a hallway covered by a van vault, and then it turns left (eastwards) into the Old City.
