Bab Al-mutahara
Its entrance is rectangular, with a height of 3.5 m. It was renewed during the reign of the Mamluk prince Alaeddin al-Basiri in the year 666 AH - 1266 AD.
This door is also called the door of the ablution, and it took its name from the place of ablution that leads to it outside Al-Aqsa. It is the only gate that does not lead to the streets and alleys of the old town, but rather to a private road that leads to the sanctuary located 50 meters away from it.
This sanctuary was built during the reign of the just Ayyubid sultan Abu Bakr Ayyub, and it was said that the builder was the great King Isa al-Ayyubi, then it was renewed by Prince Ala al-Din al-Basiri during the Mamluk era, then it was restored by the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem, which is charged with managing the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque, rebuilt in the eighties of the twentieth century AD. It is now only for men, provided that women use the disinfectant at Bab Hatta.
