Al Bakriyah School
It is a Government Primary School for boys established in 1925 . Its original building was located to the west of the headquarters of the YMCA on Nablus Street in the neighborhood of Saad and said, and the primary school continued its educational mission throughout the following years until 1948, and many of the children of Jerusalem and its suburbs attended it, and it was taught by an elite of qualified teachers and became one of the most important primary schools with a low number of students.
Before the outbreak of the war in 1948, the school administration was forced to close it temporarily due to its proximity to the battlefield and the exposure of its building to attacks by Zionist gangs on that neighborhood.
after the end of the war, the announcement of the armistice and the fact that the school was located on the ceasefire line near the mendelium gate and its building was severely damaged, the school was permanently evacuated, where the eldest daughter B. The madrasa Al-bakriya moved to the dawadari madrasa building inside the Old Town, which is located on the left of the interior across Bab al-Alam Road, King Faisal's door to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.this building housed the historical dawadari madrasa, known as the House of the righteous, and derived its original name (dawadariya) from its founder, Prince Alamuddin Abu Musa al-dawadar, who stopped it in 1295 and it is said to be the first Mamluk building erected north of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The primary school continued its educational career during the Jordanian ERA in its new building, where it accommodated hundreds of students, especially the Sons of the Old City, and remained operating as a primary school for males until 1967, when it was controlled by the Israeli Ministry of knowledge and the Jerusalem Municipality and the primary school continued to operate , The academic role of the Baccalaureate school ended, as the Israeli Ministry of knowledge turned it into a school for people with special needs, the school vacated the building and moved to y Sawana after the construction of a new building bearing the name of the baccalaureate (Alwin) for special needs, and opened another school in Beit Hanina in the name of a neighborhood .the Baccalaureate school was taught by competent teachers during the British and Jordanian eras, and we mention from its teachers during the British occupation era: Professor Yahya Al-Shihabi, the Palestinian poet Abu Salma Abdul Karim Al-Karmi, Mohammed Al-qaimri, and the famous Palestinian calligrapher Mohammed and remember who I asked for : Dr. Amin al-Khatib, radio host Mahmoud al-Shahid, prominent jurist Anis al-Qasim, and others.
