Khan Sultan
Khan al-Sultan is located on Bab al-Silsila Road in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem, only hundreds of meters from the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Khan, a building with housing and facilities, is attributed to the Mamluk Sultan Al-Zahir barquq, who renovated it in 1386 ad.
The Khan consists of two floors, the lower floor of which was used as a horse barn and received goods arriving to Jerusalem from the countryside, and the upper one was used as a hostel and was used by travelers and merchants in the old days.
In the last century, the Khan's facilities turned into shoe factories, and at the beginning of the current century (after 2000), the occupation began to erect the wall, after which it turned into housing for dozens of families, and today it is inhabited by about 120 people.
The Khan suffers from neglect and lack of restoration of houses and all buildings, and also suffers from overcrowding in the population where expansion or construction is prohibited،
